My name is Tiziano Schiena
I am human rights activist.
My life as photographer
with the goal to let freedom of movement become a universal right.
For everybody, no matter who you are and where you come from.
During my university years in Rome, I became a 24/7 political activist and started as video editor becoming shortly after head of the communication of the leftist and antimafia party.
After my graduation in Political Science and International Relationships, I moved to Berlin, the capital city of the country where
I was born and spent the first ten years of my life.
In October 2019, I joined Mediterranea Saving Humans,
an Italian active with sea rescue missions and
at the internal and external European borders.
This decision changed my life radically allowing me to reach
a whole new perspective on human existence and relations of power.
In my first humanitarian mission on the Balkan Route,
I understood the power of photography as a tool for social change.
I finally understood the ultimate purpose of my life:
to give a voice to those who are not heard.
" None of us will ever have the power
to decide whether, when and where to be born "
This most basic and unjust truth I could experience it
in further different missions in Tunisia and Ukraine.
If you are reading these lines it means you share my worldview,
therefore I know you will even agree on this:
you can stand by and watch
or
become the change you want to see in society.
